The release of a new poetry collection in any language is cause for celebration, but if the works are in a minoritised language, like Gaelic, a fresh oeuvre adds to the literary tradition and demonstrates that creative writing continues to renew, against a backdrop of commercialization and globalisation.
Social media has become an ever-present feature in our lives and for creatives, whatever the art-form they work with, it is now a primary mode of engagement with audiences and readerships and getting new work out there.
Marcas has had a lively online presence for over a decade and can be found across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok sharing his own works with poetry memes and readings, songs and promoting the Scottish creative scene, across the board.
Working with visual and digital media is something that Marcas particularly enjoys developing new skills in and is a space to collaborate with visual artists, including Alistair James, Scott Tyrrell, and Marcas' partner Joshua Wilson.
The memes are scheduled to appear thrice and then twice weekly right through til September, so whether you're on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, check back regularly as they are unveiled.

With over 9k people enjoying Marcas' content on TikTok, Marcas use of the platform over the last year has succeeded in growing his largest and most interactive social media following.
The platform is perfect to showcase the symbiosis of audio, visual and spoken work and Marcas is bringing the 'Dùileach' poetry memes to life through video, with the quotations included as spoken word elements, combined with the visual.
Marcas biggest TikTok is a clip of the 'Nochd' music video with a whopping 51k views!
Over on Instagram, Marcas continues to share micro-vlogs through reels, with updates of events and appearances and forthcoming releases.
On both platforms, more readings of the poems and insights into what inspired them will be shared through reels and Instagram TVso that, despite social-distancing, followers can still experience the ambience of a live reading.
