Marcas first encountered film-poetry through the scholarship of Camille Manfredi, who has particular interest in the form in Scotland. His first film-poem 'Long-briste' ('Shipwreck') was created in collaboration with one of Scotland's finest exponents of the form, Lesley Traynor and was released in 2018.
Since then, Marcas has gone on to become one of Gaelic Literature's foremost exponents of the form, employing found footage to great effect in cohesion with spoken-word and music.

In 2021, Marcas poem 'An Leabhar II', celebrating Gaelic-medium education, children's literacy and that nascent love of poetry was named one of The Scottish Poetry Library's 'Best Scottish Poems of 2020' - the first film-poem ever to receive the honour.
Hands Across the Sea
In 2021 Marcas was commissioned alongside regular collaborator Alex Nichol to create brand new film-poetry for this special conference, celebrating the form at An Lanntair, Stornoway.
The commission eventually yielded two pieces, with poetry taken from Marcas' third collection, 'Dùileach'. These works mark a departure from Marcas established 'audio-visual bricolage' style, incorporating performance and textual elements.
